You are right it is thought that black tea helps in suppressing cough. But it is not the treatment of it. For proper treatment I would like to suggest you to see your doctor. Because there are many reasons of cough and only a doctor after medical check up can conclude which type of cough are you suffering with and the reason. He can better advise you some medicine (may be syrup or tablet). Don’t delay it otherwise some times it becomes worse if not treated well in time.
