How many cups of tea in 250g of loose leaf tea?
October 08, 2009I’ve been told loose leaf tea costs less as it doesn’t use paper bags, so I’m here to find out if its true, by comparing how many cuppas I’l get per price.
I did wonder if the weight in grams of a box of tea bags is a good representative, but that has the added weight of the bags, so i was unsure.
I am aware that loose leaf makes nicer tea though, even if it does take longer.
Most of the time is true, but it depends whether you can get the same tea either in bulk or tea bags so that you can really compare.
250gr of Loose Leaf Tea will make you between 100-125 8oz cups.
Tea bags contain an average of 1.5-2.25gr each, depending on the company.
The real fact here is that you can spend either the same amount of money or less for a much better quality tea when you buy it loose.
Tea bags, because of the size, have to use the smallest form of tea, herbs and spices, which are also the cheapest and lowest in quality.
