I am 39 weeks pregnant and apparently my baby is almost 9lbs. My midwife told me to start using Evening Primrose Oil and raspberry leaf tea to naturally induce my labour as i have tried sex, spicy food and long walks and those dont seem to work.
Has anyone else tried these 2 methods and if so what was the out come??

I did not try them but have heard of trying them & as far as I know they are both fairly safe.

As far as the size of the baby, hang in there. Sometimes they are off by as much as a pound when guessing baby’s weight (even when using an ultrasound). Or even if they are right it doesn’t automatically mean you will not be able to deliver naturally. My first (and only) son was 10 lbs 3oz when he was born. I had him naturally (no epidural) and only had to push for 13 minutes. And I am "average" size (5′ 3" 130 lbs). Don’t worry too much about baby’s size even if they are right you still have a good chance of delivering naturally! Good luck!

i have just started drinking raspberry leaf tea, and i am finding it extremely bland and tasteless. its like drinking plain hot water. I found it in tea bag form, rather than leaves, so there is no chance that i am just making it wrong. has anyone found any way to make it taste better? or taste at all for that matter? like adding honey or something?
lol, yes, raspberry leaf tea is something you drink durring pregnancy to help soften the cervix, and prepare the uterus.

My Bradley class instructor sent this to me, but I haven’t tried it for myself yet:

"one cup herb to one quart water, simmered down to half and strained. Then heavily sweetened with honey."

She said you could also use this and freeze them into ice cubes which you could munch on in the delivery room.

I had a miscarriage about two weeks ago. What foods to avoid triggering a miscarriage?

I have heard that red raspberry leaf tea i very good during pregnancy and helps prepare the uterus before….is this true?

What have your experiences been with miscarriages and if you have tried red raspberry tea?

Thank you.

throughout your pregnancy you will hear lots of things to drink/eat and not to drink/eat. some true, some not. i drank red respberry leaf tea the last week of my pregnancy.. im not sure if it did any good or not. it didn’t taste very well though. I’ve heard that it’s just an old wives tale.
as for the miscarriage.. lots of things can trigger that. it most likely wasnt something you did or didn’t do.. maybe your body just wasn’t ready. just be healthy(keep your body healthy) and keep trying.
good luck sweetie <img src='http://www.mygreenteablog.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt="icon smile Avoid miscarriage?
I’ve been told loose leaf tea costs less as it doesn’t use paper bags, so I’m here to find out if its true, by comparing how many cuppas I’l get per price.

I did wonder if the weight in grams of a box of tea bags is a good representative, but that has the added weight of the bags, so i was unsure.

I am aware that loose leaf makes nicer tea though, even if it does take longer.

Most of the time is true, but it depends whether you can get the same tea either in bulk or tea bags so that you can really compare.

250gr of Loose Leaf Tea will make you between 100-125 8oz cups.

Tea bags contain an average of 1.5-2.25gr each, depending on the company.

The real fact here is that you can spend either the same amount of money or less for a much better quality tea when you buy it loose.

Tea bags, because of the size, have to use the smallest form of tea, herbs and spices, which are also the cheapest and lowest in quality.

I have trouble trusting the internet for certain things, especially for something as important as food. 2 things important to me are preservation/freshness and the tea being organic. I do not want a tea subjected to chemicals when it is supposed to be a healthy beverage, ya know? I frequent the local Whole Foods Market, but their loose leaf bar is small and only contains about 6 selections, and white tea is always picked over. I mainly drink green tea, so any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

i have recently gotten back from china. i have also brought the equivalent of 500 pots of ginseng oolong tea (delicious =D). when in china, i saw a fairly standard pot including a small body, rounded spouts/handles, and an inner piece full of holes.
all i have are general pots and pans.
what would be the best way to brew it?

If you don’t want to buy any new hardware, I’d suggest putting some tea leaves in a mug and pour hot water (not boiling it scalds the tea, esp. green) into it. Steep the tea as you would a bag. Then pour the tea (minus the leaves) into a new cup. Use a spoon or coffee filter to strain, as the tea steeps, the leaves settle to the bottom for easy straining.

Or make your own tea bags by tying the tea off in a small coffee filter.

Or buy a strainer from cookware/tea store for a few dollars. Or you can buy a pot from Chinatown for around $15-20.
